Red Velvet (and some other Flavors)
I promise that I will not keep declaring each flavor my new favorite. But honestly, Red Velvet cupcakes are SO awesome. Essentially they’re a vanilla cake with a little bit of cocoa in the batter, with a traditional cream cheese frosting, though I want to use buttercream next time. Definitely a classic flavor, featured in this 2007 NY Times piece.
Red velvet, chocolate mint (garnished with bittersweet chocolate wafers and mint from our garden), and lemon all for one order, I decided to make these all with white frosting to give them a unifying theme. From Victor for his wife’s birthday, three dozen fancy cupcakes.
More posts soon, especially since we’re deep in strawberry season. More photos here.
