I know it’s difficult to believe, but when I was little, I didn’t like peanut butter. I would eat jelly-only sandwiches. Now, peanut butter is one of my favorite flavors.

Yesterday, for a Bitch Magazine house party, I made several cupcakes – here is the first. These are one of my favorite flavors, with the peanut butter being not-too-strong, and include a chocolate cake with peanut butter chips, topped with peanut butter frosting, chocolate shavings, and cocoa powder.

  1. OK, since I’m vegan, and these were not – I only had one tiny, tiny, tiny little nibble. But damn, they were really good.

  2. Chocolate-peanut butter amazingness . . . the peanut butter icing was la rich mousse-esque taste explosion. Overall, it was a richness deserving to be paired with an ice cold glass of milk/milk substitute. If ever a cupcake could be described as classy decadence, this is it.

  3. Jen’s genius is that her cupcakes are rich and decadent with just the right amount of sweetness—never cloying, the way cupcakes can be. And the balance of peanut butter and chocolate was perfect.
