Vegan Chocolate Cupcakes with Orange and Raspberry
First and most importantly, the cupcakes pictured here are mini vegan cupcakes, chocolate orange and chocolate raspberry, with vanilla frosting and garnish – fresh raspberries or homemade candied orange peels. I used this recipe for the orange peels, and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be! Last time I made chocolate orange cupcakes, I got the candied peels from friends, so this was a first time for me. I so love the chocolate-white-color garnish look. You can see an alternate view of the raspberry ones here. I made these for Barbara at Rue Atelier – she has a cute shop in the Elmwood district of Berkeley, and they are having a sale today! Along with making all sorts of great treats lately (yellow cake with chocolate frosting earlier this week, carrot cake cupcakes tomorrow), I’m thrilled about how things are moving along for the Angel Cakes relaunch later this summer. We’re finalizing a new logo and beginning plans on an updated website – plus figuring out the final logistics for the cupcake of the month. *Lots* of announcements coming in the next two months.
And finally, I think I want to be a food stylist/food photographer when I grow up. Getting a better camera and taking some classes is on my (big) list of things to do this year!
