This morning were some super fun vegan sunflower cupcakes for the East Bay Vegan Bakesale, coordinated by the lovely ladies at Fat Bottom Bakery – a vegan bakery in Oakland. This month’s sale benefited Home at Last Animal Rescue and Lyon Martin Health Services. you can see an alternate view of the sunflower cupcakes here. Really nice and cheerful on a sunny (but cold!) day.
Oh, and by the way – the bakesale was held outside of Issues, and awesome magazine/book store in the Piedmont area of Oakland. I was *thrilled* when they opened in 2007 – and how awesome! I mean, opening a new magazine store when so many bookstores are closing is super audacious and exciting. And now with all the news about Borders, their bankruptcy, and all their store closings, well… maybe the tide is turning and Issues got in at just the right time. If you’re in Piedmont (I mean…the new mac n’ cheese restaurant is not too far from there!), be sure to stop by.
